The Beautiful Girls

The recent release of We're Already Gone in the U.S. saw the beautiful girls morph and trim their touring party slightly. in a "back to their roots" move for the band - who have worked with a series of different instrumentalists for tours and recordings - this time around they toured the U.S. as a three piece. The group for the Yellow Snow tour, Mat McHugh, bassist Clay McDonald and drummer Bruce Braybrooke have just completed the tour. They are now about to tour Aust on the layin'tracks tour. which will see them recording all the gigs for a potential live release late in 06.
We're Already Gone is the bands follow up to the acoustic classic Learn Yourself.
In the eighteen months between the release of Learn Yourself, and the recording of Were Already Gone the band toured. Australia, Japan (twice) and the U.S. they toured the U.S. five times.
touring partners in the U.S. have included; Mason Jennings, Hawaiian/Cali band Pepper (twice), Slightly Stoopid and Fishbone. and now mishka
We're Already Gone has a strong band emphasis and includes a stack of extra coloring and collaborations. Keyboards, a brass section, melodica and harp solos move the album forward. And the bands time spent (nearly five years), on the road is evident.
Like its predecessors, Were Already Gone is a raw album. It is also a collision of styles. It does occasionally dip into the same pool of influence as other material from TBG. The songs, for the most part, are darker though there is still the trademark melodic beauty (Lets Take The Long Way and When I Had you With Me). Mostly it is a collision of structure and riff. A mix of art, dub and rock.
the response to both albums in the U.S. by the crowds and the press has been fantastic.
