Eleni Mandell wins year-end kudos
Brian Smith of the DETROIT METRO TIMES
has named Eleni Mandell's Afternoon his number one album of the 2004: "1. Eleni Mandell —Afternoon (Zedtone): Languid like a springtime afternoon alcohol buzz in Rickie Lee Jones’ garden; able to release the butterflies in your gut." And HARP magazine placed Afternoon in its Top Forty CDs of the year at number 26: "Mandell's sultry, noirish pulpy love tunes are the dreams that occur as you straddle the line between asleep and awake: so good, so perfectly and strangely composed that you long for them to be real. These make "Afternoon' a surreal, sublime delight." |
