The Shoes, who hail from Zion, IL are one of the pioneers of the late 70s power pop movement. They began life as one of the first DIY pop bands, self-releasing their debut, Black Vinyl Shoes (now a collectors' item), before signing to Elektra Records in 1979. Their Elektra debut spawned the hits "Too Late" and "Tomorrow Night", and was followed by two additional Elektra releases in the early 80s. Since then the Shoes have continued recording, for their own Black Vinyl Records, and stand (alongside contemporaries Cheap Trick, Dwight Twilley, The Knack and The Rubinoos) as ground zero for the contemporary power pop movement. This labor-of-love tribute collection features exclusive contributions from Matthew Sweet (with Velvet Crush's Ric Menck), Michael Carpenter, DM3, The Masticators, LMNOP, Don Dixon & Marti Jones, Al Chan (from The Rubinoos), Jeffrey Foskett, Walter Clevenger & The Dairy Kings, The Tearaways w/ Scott McCarl (from The Raspberries), Chewy Marble, Cloud 11, Sparkle*Jets UK, Big Hello, Doug
