USA Today says "Rocker Nick Lowe really feeling his Age"
"Singer/songwriter Nick Lowe is calling his first CD in nearly six years, due June 26, At My Age. 'I'm coming up on 58, and I suppose I was starting to feel it a bit,' says the critical and cult hero, who since his last studio outing has lost both his parents but also welcomed a son, Roy, now 2 years old.
Lowe's new CD, in fact, came together 'differently than the ones I've done over the past 15 years, due to the dramas that were served up in my personal and domestic life.' Whereas he usually starts with a few songs 'that serve as an engine for writing and producing the rest, this time I couldn't get in the groove, or stay in the groove long enough. The collection came together in dribs and drabs.' The resulting tracks are rootsy and eclectic, mixing pop and country textures. Lowe included three readings of songs originally recorded by Charlie Feathers, The Uniques and Faron Young. 'I always come up with at least two covers. If you have a couple, it shows that you're not obsessed with your own output.' -Elysa Gardner for USA Today |
