Back in November of 2005 I was getting my head straight, living with some friends out in the woods a few miles east of Seattle. I recorded a handful of songs, some of which were later re-recorded with the band and ended up on the upcoming You Can't Win. These are stark voice, guitar/voice, and piano arrangements of the Willie Nelson extra-thick plate reverb variety. Yep Roc Records is offering five of these home recordings for immediate download through their website if you preorder the new record. I rarely share these sort of recordings, but there's a lot captured in these songs. Thankfully, the dismal heartache in my voice grew to something more like understanding by the time the guys helped me get the album completed.
