Review:
The Talk is one of the first releases from Charlotte, NC’s new label MoRisen (pronounced Mo-RISE-en). Setting themselves up to be the label for Charlotte and other NC bands, MoRisen follows the lead of other regional indie labels to be much like what Saddle Creek is to Omaha and what K Records is to the Northwest or what Thrill Jockey is for Chicago.


The Talk’s debut album ‘No, You Shut Up!’ is raw energy with clean, retro-y guitar licks, gritty guitar solos and a blistering backbeat that just might save your soul from the boring new Strokes record. If you enjoyed The Libertines release earlier this year, you are sure to connect with The Talk. They recorded this album in less than 24 hours with remarkable success and a definite urgency that fits the band’s untamed rock sound. So good is this debut release, the band has already been slated to produce their next release (due out next year) with Mike Mogus who is known for his work with Saddle Creek Records’ bands.



Bottom line, ‘No, You Shut Up!’ is playful and truly fun to listen to. It comes at you without any pretension and (look out!) with a good handful of curse words that you can’t help but utter when you are having that much of a fu@#$%^n good time!
