Hailing from Raleigh, NC, Chatham County Line successfully recreates the diverse elements that Bill Monroe used in forming the classic bluegrass sound. Playing traditional bluegrass intruments--mandolin, fiddle, banjo and acoustic guitar--with three-part harmonies, CCL performs original tunes that take their inspiration from old-style pickers and players while creating a fresh, "new-traditional" style of country bluegrass music. Chatham County Line features members of Lost Highway recording artist Tift Merritt's band, The Carbines as well as a member of Thad Cockrell's backing band. Tift Merritt also adds background vocals on two tracks. Recorded with producer Chris Stamey, Chatham County Line's self titled debut album on Bonfire Records is a meaty debut by a new generation of pickers that have taken a classic style of music and made it undeniably their own.
