Iguanas' Plastic Silver 9 Volt Heart Scheduled for March Release on Yep Roc!

New Orleans' own The Iguanas are back with the most mature and groovin' disc of their career, Plastic Silver 9-Volt Heart.(released date is March 25, 2003) Reunited with producer Justin Niebank, the 14-song collection goes beyond the quintet's accustomed mix of Tex-Mex, rock and R&B. Combining the band's familiar mix of Latin and Caribbean grooves with the feel of a dark and sultry New Orleans' night, the new music is exotic, intoxicating, mesmerizing and the groove is slow and sinuous.

In a LA Times' review, the Iguanas' groove was described as "stressing understatement and a mixed bag of Caribbean rhythms... call it roots rhythm". The band have expanded and extended the grooves from their earlier work, the result of their many nights playing in clubs and working the late night crowds.

The current line up of The Iguanas has been together since 1993 and is lead by vocalists Rod Hodges (guitars and accordion) and Joe Cabral (saxophone and bajo quinto). The band is rounded out by bassist Rene Coman, drummer Doug Garrison and saxophonist Derek Huston.

Released in time for the annual music fest in New Orleans, The Jazz and Heritage Festival, the new release is bound to create a stir for old and new fans alike.

The Iguanas will be touring nationally following the release of Plastic Silver 9-Volt Heart.
