Chris Gaffney, long time Dave Alvin collaborator and member of The Guilty Men, passed away Thursday morning after a short but fiercely valiant battle with liver cancer. In addition to working with Dave for decades, Chris was also a founding member of the fabulous Hacienda Brothers and revered by fans and musicians as one of roots music's finest vocalists. Family and friends recently created a website dedicated to collecting donations to help cover Chris' mounting medical bills. The amazing and immediate response of his friends and fans made it clear how much they loved him, with hospital stays, medication and tests being covered through a flurry of donations. Chris is remembered through the lives he touched not only through his loyal friendship but also through his music, ensuring that Gaffney will truly live on forever.
