Yep Roc Records signs The Golden Dogs, "Big Eye Little Eye" set to release on August 21

Toronto Canada's The Golden Dogs have been burning up the Canadian music scene for several years, quickly becoming one of its most celebrated developing artists. Their debut album Everything in 3 Parts, released in 2002, graced many year end best-of lists and even climbed to an impressive #20 on the CMJ radio charts in the United States. The band recently enjoyed a sold out tour of Canada, airplay on MTV Canada and Much Music as well as two consecutive SXSW appearances where the band garnered high praise from New York Times pop music critic Jon Pareles, writing that "[The Golden Dogs] pump out exuberant new wave pop."

Spearheaded by songwriter and guitarist/lead vocalist Dave Azzolini, the band recorded its sophomore effort Big Eye Little Eye in 2005, just before solidifying its current line up of Azzolini's wife Jessica Grassia on keys/vocals, Taylor Knox on drums, Neil Quin on guitar and Stew Heyduk on bass. The band went into the studio with a distinct idea of what they wanted to accomplish. The band's tight muscular guitar crunch and unrepentant hooks are a result of Azzolini's obsessive work ethic and stripped down approach to arrangement. "I believe there should be economy in songwriting. My favorite part of writing music is finding the best path to the conclusion."

On the heels of their significant success in Canada, The Golden Dogs are ready to bring their unique blend of new wave, classic rock and power pop to the States through their new album and their infamously raucous live show. Azzonlini offers, "We can't wait to tour and gain some fans in the States. We just love to play gigs and we're especially excited to play for people who haven't seen us yet." Big Eye Little Eye will be released August 21, 2007.
