JASON RINGENBERG to release his first album of children's songs, A DAY AT THE FARM WITH FARMER JASON, on October 21

July 29, Dickson, TN: For over two decades, first as frontman with country-rock pioneers Jason and the Scorchers and now as an internationally acclaimed solo artist, former Illinois farm boy Jason Ringenberg has blazed a path as both innovator and interpreter of American country music. A hard-working performer who travels light – just him, his guitar and his trademark yelp—Ringenberg has earned the moniker “the rockinest folk singer that ever lived!”

But when he’s not jumping on top of bars and boot-scootin’ across America on one of his frequent solo jaunts, Ringenberg is a down-home kind of guy who likes nothing better than to putter around the Nashville-area farm he shares with his wife, three young daughters and an assortment of domesticated critters. Making up songs to entertain his daughters, Ringenberg soon had a toe-tappin’ batch of tunes as well as an alter ego who sang them – his affable, bucolic “twin brother” named Farmer Jason.

With tracks like “The Guitar Pickin’ Chicken” and “He’s a Hog Hog Hog,” Farmer Jason knew he was on to something. So he brought in multi-instrumentalist Fats Kaplan and producer/musician George Bradfute to get the songs on tape, with Tahra Dergee (from NPT Television’s children’s show Tahra Time, shown on PBS) stopping by to sing on “Sundown on the Farm,” the album’s closing track.
From its opening cock-a-doodle doo! (“Get Up Up Up!”) on through, A Day at the Farm with Farmer Jason is an upbeat collection of songs that introduces the listener to the easy-going pleasures of life down on the farm.

While this is a “children’s record,” A Day at the Farm with Farmer Jason has plenty to offer everybody who’s ever made noises like a tractor chuggin’ through mud or barked like a doggie.

Farmer Jason, simple agrarian that he is, has made that most rare of discs – one that both kids and their parents can enjoy together.
