Nick Lowe to tour the states in the fall!
CLASSIC STYLIST AND POP TREASURE NICK LOWE COMING TO THE STATES THIS FALL
British songriter and producer and under-appreciated pop treasure Nick Lowe returns to the States for a fall tour (see itinerary below). All shows will be solo acoustic. Longtime bandmember and new Yep Roc label-mate Geraint Watkins will be opening for Lowe in support of his August release, Dial W for Watkins. Tour itinerary (subject to changes and additions): September 6 Seattle, WA Bumbershoot Festival September 8 Portland, OR Aladdin Theatre September 11 Chicago, IL Old Town School of Folk Music September 14 Ann Arbor, MI The Ark September 17 Austin, TX The Parish September 23 New York, NY Bowery Ballroom September 24 Northampton, MA Iron Horse Music Hall September 25 Boston, MA Paradise Rock Club September 26 Alexandria, VA The Birchmere September 28 Annapolis, MD Rams Head Tavern October 2 San Francisco, CA Strickly Hardly Bluegrass Festival In addition to a successful career as an artist, Lowe has made his mark on popular culture as a gifted producer (Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, John Hiatt, The Pretenders) and a brilliant songwriter. Lowe pended both "The Beast in Me" for Johnny Cash and the epic plea "(What's So Funny 'bout...) Peace, Love and Understanding" (popularized by Elvis Costello and covered by Curtis Steigers on The Bodyguard Soundtrack) to name but two. For the past decade, Lowe has been focused on making music that's artistically satisfying and emotionally rewarding. He's simply not interested in trying to re-hash his past successes as a solo hit-maker or resurrecting the sounds of his influential groups Brinsley Schwarz, Rockpile and Little Village. Lowe's recent trilogy of work, the most recent being The Convincer, is the ultimate example of this philosophy with its unique mix of soulful ballads and wide ranging genres and influences. |
