Redeye Welcomes City Slang, Joe Ely and Jimmie Dale Gilmore
Redeye Distribution is proud to announce the signing of the venerated European label City Slang as well as world renowned Texas troubadours Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Joe Ely.
The European label home of many American artists such as The Flaming Lips, Lambchop, and Calexico; City Slang brings a formidable roster of their own stateside courtesy of Redeye Distribution. The first release will be from KORT, a Nashville inspired collaboration from Lambchop’s Kurt Wagner and Cortney Tidwell entitled Invariable Heartache. This album, available through Redeye in both physical CD and digital formats, will street on 4/26/11. Shortly thereafter will be releases from Love Inks’ E.S.P. (CD/LP/Dig) and EMA, both dropping on 5/10/11. EMA’s release Past Life Martyred Saints (CD/LP/Dig) will arrive on the City Slang imprint Souterrain Transmissions. Also on 5/10/11, Redeye is proud to present a highly anticipated new release from The Wronglers, featuring the legendary Jimmie Dale Gilmore, titled Heirloom Music. Teaming up with the amateur Bay Area string band (led by Warren Hellman, the benefactor of the annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in San Francisco), Heirloom Music is an album of early twentieth century, folk-rooted country music featuring material from the likes Charlie Poole, the Carter Family, Bill Monroe, Bob Wills and the Delmore Brothers with Jimmie Dale Gilmore’s distinctive high lonesome vocals. It is the first release from Jimmie Dale Gilmore since his Grammy nominated Come On Back in 2005. Heirloom Music will be available through Redeye in both physical CD and digital formats, including a limited edition hardbound collector’s package. On 6/7/2011, Redeye Distribution will release a brand new album from Jimmie Dale Gilmore’s friend and accomplice in The Flatlanders, Mr. Joe Ely. Satisfied At Last is the first studio release from Ely since 2007. Known for a life full of wanderlust and constant motion, getting lost and rediscovering himself on the world's lonesome highways and dusty back roads, Ely’s latest release from his independent record label, Rack‘Em Records, embodies his genre busting unique mix of traditional Tex-Mex rhythms, outlaw country, Texas blues and good old-fashioned American rock and roll. One listen will convince you that Ely clearly isn’t about to slow down any time soon. Satisfied At Last will be available in both physical CD and digital formats. |
