St. Louis -Chuck Berry Tribute features, Magnolia Summer, Jay Farrar, Bottle Rockets...

Magnolia Summer has been invited to record a track for an upcoming compilation titled, "The Chuck Project".

ST. LOUIS CHUCK BERRY TRIBUTE CD TO BENEFIT COMMUNITY RADIO STATION KDHX 88.1 FM
St. Louis, MO. –Work is nearly completed on The Chuck Project, a charity tribute CD to benefit Saint Louis radio station KDHX 88.1 FM. The disc will feature the songs of Chuck Berry as performed by prominent Saint Louis area musicians across a wide range of musical styles.

The impact of Chuck Berry’s music on American popular culture is incalculable. A rock ‘n’ roll founder and one of its greatest songwriters, Berry was the very first person to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Songs like “Johnnie B. Goode”, “School Days”, “Nadine” and “Promised Land” continue to inspire new generations of musicians and fans. His greatest hits are known and revered across the globe. The Chuck Project is a long overdue local salute to the music of this Saint Louis native.

The list of bands already attached to the project includes the Bottlerockets, Murphy Lee, Fontella Bass, Jay Farrar, Ingrid Berry, Sullen, Bennie Smith & the Urban Express, Nadine,Magnolia Summer, the Tripdaddys, the Rockhouse Ramblers, the Soulard Blues Band and many others.

The Chuck Project is being produced by KDHX personnel Kip Loui and Tom “Papa” Ray. Mike Martin of the Broom Factory Studio has signed on as Music Director. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to community radio station KDHX 88.1 FM in St Louis. A tentative release date of Spring 2004 has been scheduled.
