Daniel Lanois New Release, Here Is What Is, Streets 3/18!

Here is What Is, the remarkable sixth solo from Daniel Lanois, strikes a chord for independence as the first major release on his own Red Floor Records. An acclaimed singer/songwriter/producerâ€"known for producing some of the greatest albums of the last two decades (U2, Bob Dylan, Brian Eno, Neville Brothers, more), Daniel Lanois has created an album full of viscerally powerful and beautiful new tracks that rank amongst his best.

Here Is What Is was recorded in Toronto, Los Angeles and Shreveport, LA with drummer Brian Blade (Joshua Redman, Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones) and pianist Garth Hudson (The Band) and captures Lanois’ signature musical sensibilities and virtuosity. The album also includes philosophical interludes and inspiring conversations with Brian Eno taken from the film by the same name.

The film Here Is What Is, which debuted at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival, will be available separately on DVD on April 1st. In Lanois’ words, “The film is a camera following me around over the course of a year, in and out of recording studios documenting once and for all the way it really happens.” Directed by Adam Vollick, Adam Samuels, and Lanois, Here Is What Is captures the art of making a record and showcases one of the most distinctive and celebrated producers of our time.

The CD Here Is, What Is streets 3/18/08.
