Redeye Welcomes Frenetic Records!

Frenetic Records signs with REDEYE for world wide exclusive distribution.

Formed in '97 by Chris Lyon (Time In Malta / Equal Vision) and Duncan White (Modern Vending / Ajax Records) Frenetic Records took off fast. Their first full length release was by a little known band at the time called The Champs (also known as C4AM95 and now The Fucking Champs). It was the debut full length for the champs (two guitars and one drummer) and no one really knew what to think. Mostly an instrumental album with influences from Kraftwerk to Metallica. This trio changed the way people thought about metal, rock, new wave -- they started a new genre entitled Total Music. Not only was the music fresh, but they way it was delivered was brand new. Who had heard of a metal band crossing all boundaries, playing to a mostly indie crowd and without a bass player. This band took everyone by surprise.

Frenetic Records has a knack for introducing bands to the general public that make a lasting influence. Debut full length releases by such bands as Hella, Spaceboy, Natural Dreamers, Bozart, Mechakucha, Science of Yabra, Boyjazz, Toughguy Fantasy and as recent as Pink Mountain and Citay. If you haven't heard of these bands, you will.

Frenetic has also worked with bands with a few albums under their belt, such as, Crime in Choir, the Curtains, Cheval De Frise and ZU.

This label has refused to settle in and pick a genre and stick with it. Everything from singer songwriter, metal, jazz, noise, rock, art rock and instrumental. Sometimes all within one release. And somehow they have done it quitely. The Bay Guardian of San Francisco recognized this fact by awarding this San Francisco outfit the Best Local Record Label in 2004. "[Frenetic] has been pushing musical boundaries and quietly igniting a musical revolution here in San Francisco."

From the beginning Frenetic's goal has been to release quality music that slipped between the already established underground or alternative independent labels as well as keeping the integrity of the artist at the forefront. Mission accomplished.

Now with the help of REDEYE DISTRIBUTION (2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 distributor of the year -- small division -- National Association of Recording Merchandisers) Frenetic is about to be introduced to a much, much larger audience. Frenetic's back catalog will be reintroduced May 30th, followed by three brand new releases CITAY, Pink Mountain and ZU.
