Redeye Distribution is proud to announce the signing of an exclusive distribution deal New York indie label, Gern Blandsten.

Gern Blandsten was founded in 1991, by Charles Maggio while on tour with his own band RORSCHACH. During that time, Charles decided he was going to put his business school education to good use and start a record label. "Surely." he mused, "this is a foolproof route to my first billion!" With a name borrowed from an old Steve Martin sketch comedy act, he set out in search of bold new talent, the likes of which the kids at large were going to suck up like cotton candy!

Gern's first release was by a Canadian band called ONE BLOOD. In the early 90's, the label primarily focused on the local scene around the NYC show space known as ABC NO RIO. In the preceding years Gern Blandsten has helped develop a catalog of some of the top indie bands of today, including: WESTON, TED LEO AND THE PHARMACISTS, RADIO 4, RYE COALITION, WORLD/INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY and CANYON. With a strong catalog of over 70 releases, Gern Blandsten is still going strong and continues to "produce music for the socially unaccepted" well into it's second decade. Gern Blandsten's catalog will become available to stores through Redeye on Jan 10th 2006 solicitation period and will be followed by new releases by Victory at Sea and The Little Killers in early February 2006.

Prior to moving to Redeye, Gern Blandsten has been distributed by Mordam/Lumberjack. The label will rejoin former Mordam alumni labels Gold Standard Labs and Dirtnap Records in the Redeye family.

In other news, Redeye Distribution is also excited to announce the hiring of Mordam/Lumberjack sales representative, KRISTIN ATTAWAY to their sales force. Kristin will start November 15th and will be based out of her Los Angeles office. The move expands Redeye's sales staff to 10 reps domestically with an additional rep in London, UK for overseas sales. Kristin will bring her experience in export sales from Mordam to assist Redeye's London rep as well as work closely with other domestic west coast chain and independent accounts near or around Los Angeles.
