Allen Clapp: Something Strange Happens
![]()
A decade's worth of singles, b-sides, rarities, and unreleased songs from founder/frontman of The Orange Peels and
acclaimed solo singer-songwriter Allen Clapp, chronicles the '90s indie-pop bedroom-rock experience. For a decade Clapp poured his heart and soul into recording; making entire worlds occur within the confines of two-minute pop songs. In the pre- Belle-and-Sebastian pop landscape his blend of classic melodies and lyrics that were equally parts fey and clever struck a chord. His delightfully economical first single, "A Change in the Weather" in 1991 was an introduction to the breezy melodies and spry rhyming that would become his hallmark. This collection boasts 17 songs, including tracks released by labels such as Four Letter Words, Bus Stop, Elefant, SpinArt, and Zum, along with five unreleased songs. Digipak. |
