Steve Scott

Even by cult-musician standards, Steve Scott has had a unique career. Since the 1970's, the London-born singer, songwriter, poet, spoken word artist, lecturer, essayist, filmmaker and world traveler has worked on the fringes of the fringe, his output remaining relatively little known even to those who would seem to be the natural audience for his work. His iconoclastic approach and adventurous musical explorations mark him as an outsider.

Despite his relative obscurity, those familiar with Scott's singular oeuvre are well aware of his status as a one-of-a-kind visionary. His expansive, evocative lyrics are supported by music that's alternately rocking and dreamily atmospheric, often venturing successfully into exotic stylistic territory. Meanwhile, he's consistently expanded his sonic palette to incorporate new sounds, rhythms and technological advances.
This remarkable collection drawn from various recordings throughout Scott's career makes a persuasive case for his status as a true original.
