The latest edition of the Warp singles series brings us two roughed up, high speed bangers from Northern Cali, courtesy of Ata Ebtekar, p.k.a. Sote. Meant to be played as loud as inhumanly possible, these deafening future anthems have just enough harmony to balance the distorted drum patterns and disorienting phasing. Tunefully satisfying, yet hard and heavy, Sote's produced a work that manages to intelligently poke about the boundary that separates industrial noise from melodic electronica.
