Like NoahJohn, Jim White melds country music with the sounds of the city - in this case, a sometimes lustrous, sometimes bumptious trip-hop. There are a lot of production credits - Morcheeba, Sade musician Andrew Hale, DJ Q-Burns and White himself among them - but you'd never guess it from the homogeneous idiosyncracy of the sound. Everyone works hard to keep the music unobtrusive enough to let you focus on White's excellent lyrics, yet strange enough to keep catching you by surprise.
