LOGO network nominates Heloise & the Savoir Faire for the "New Now Next" award
Only a few days after releasing their debut album, Trash, Rats and Microphones Heloise & The Savior Faire received the nomination for the 'Brink of Fame: Song' award for the electro-dance pop song "Illusions." The Logo Network "New Now Next" awards will draw attention to what is new and next in the best of LGBT pop culture across a wide array of mediums including the internet, film, television and music. The awards build on Logo's acclaimed NewNowNext franchise, which includes a music show identifying emerging musicians popular with the LGBT audience and a pop culture blog.
The nomination comes off the heels of the band's recent trip to the UK to promote the album; appearing on the Channel 4 show, "Friday Night Project" and performing at several hot night spots including an electrifying set at "The Cock at the Ghetto." While abroad Heloise & The Savior Faire caught the eye of Kylie Minogue who saw their buzzed-about performance on 'Friday Night Project' then requested that the band be added to her 'Top’'friends on her MySpace page. Backed by a live band, Heloise's oblique jazzy-voice strategizes in beat with two Solid Gold-worthy dancers in leggings. Traversing the yellow bricks as Peaches' favorite flavor, this electro rock outfit has trapped Toto in a mirror ball." -URB "A bottle blonde with a fondness for spandex and all that glitters, Williams was leading her band, Heloise & the Savoir Faire, in a nasty bit of '70s disco rock. She laid out her mission fast and furious: "Trash, rats, and microphones/ That's where I'm at/ Why don't you leave me alone?" -Joan Anderman, Boston Globe "Heloise & The Savior Faire make the indie kids stop and stare." -Emily McCombs, Bust Magazine "Front woman Heloise has Cyndi Lauper's tone, Debbie Harry's range, and many cheesy come-ons-what's not to love? As synths bubble through the disc's randy electro-pop songs, you won't know whether to pogo or grind, but dance you will." -Scott Frampton, Marie Claire "She's got a soul diva's voice, Solid Gold moves and a sassy tongue in her cheek." -Time Out New York "What can I say to describe this passionate show…There was spandex, there was multi-generational choreography…It was fun and they definitely committed to it." -Leigh Belz, Teen Vogue "The recent debut from the trippy Brooklyn band Heloise & the Savoir Faire... reminded me of the Scissor Sisters at times - but with more, well, everything." -James Montgomery, MTV.com "…their wild live performances…made us feel like we'd stumbled into the world's coolest, queerest underground club. We're ready to crown the band our pick for breakout stars." -Shana Krochmal, Out.com "Among the more interesting sets [at SXSW] were those by Heloise & the Savoir Faire." -Fred Mills, Harp Magazine "The crowd loved every minute of the highly theatrical performance." -Peter Mongillo, Austin American Statesman Stay tuned for summer tour dates to be announced shortly. |
