"Fearless DIY Performer" Liam Finn confirmed for four CMJ shows, Oct. 17-19
New Zealander Liam Finn is coming stateside for - count 'em! - four performances at this year's CMJ Music Marathon, October 17-19. Look for him to play songs from his album I'll Be Lightning already the odds-on favorite for debut of the year down under, and set for release on Yep Roc Records, January 22, 2008. See below for Liam's complete CMJ itinerary.
Finn was recently tapped by Stereogum for their "Band to Watch" column on the strength of his song "Second Chance," which they called a "masterful pop composition." Past Stereogum "Band to Watch" inductees include Arcade Fire, Lily Allen and Cold War Kids. Click here to read the Stereogum review and watch an incredible Liam Finn live clip. Liam has been hailed as "a fearless DIY performer" (Sunday Herald Sun, Australia) for his incredible one-man live shows, looping and layering guitar, bass, drums, and even theremin to create a bracing wall of sound. In NY he will be joined by EJ, a female back-up vocalist who's addition will fill out the performance even further. This will be Liam's second trip to New York this year. In August, he performed with his father Neil Finn's group Crowded House at the Beacon Theater. Liam opened that show with his own solo set as well.
