INDEPENDENT MUSIC FOR THE INDEPENDENTLY MINDED
ARTIST

USSA

About a year ago, Paul Barker and Duane Denison decided to start a new band and began writing material together. Mr. Barker, as you may know, was a long time member of Ministry and Revolting Cocks, and in addition to playing bass and programming has been involved in production and soundtrack work. Mr. Denison was the guitar player for The Jesus Lizard, is the guitar player for Tomahawk. He has lent his guitar and compositional skills to numerous projects and sessions. Barker and Denison had met while living in Chicago during the 90's and now found themselves working in Nashville, TN where Denison currently lives.

The next step was to recruit a drummer, which they did in the form of one Johnny Rabb. Denison had played briefly with Rabb while they were both doing sidemen stints with Hank Williams III. Rabb has become a famous name in the drumming world--as an author, teacher, sideman, clinician, inventor, and a even world's record holder (ask him).

Finally, vocalist/multi instrumentalist Gary Call was added, bringing his distinctive voice, compositional sense, technical savvy (he has worked as an audio engineer for the Nashville Symphony, among others) and mystique to the fold. USSA was now complete!

Their debut album The Spoils is due out on Fuzz Artists, Inc. in September. The album was recorded and mixed in Nashville, TN at Lake Fever Productions. The engineering was done by Joe Funderburk (Tomahawk, Hank III, Silver Jews, etc) and mixing by Paul Barker and USSA.
