From Throwing Muses to 50 Foot Wave and now, a new solo effort -- Throwing Muses' Kristin Hersh says her songs are about a lot more than just motherhood and marriage, as one Web site once pigeon-holed her. Hersh says she finds it "ridiculous" that men are considered people, while women are women. Hersh's first solo CD in four years, Learn to Sing Like a Star, came out last week, with Hersh playing many of the instruments as well as singing her songs. The CD's title came from a spam ad that she says kept popping up while she was exchanging files with her mixing engineer. After a short tour through Europe, Hersh expects to swing across the US in the spring.
