StinkMitt

STINKMITT must be heard to be believed.
Combine equal parts Beastie Boys, Prince, Blondie & Yaz, and you have StinkMitt - the Vancouver-based electro/funk/hip hop trio that have shocked, awed and won a worldwide following, plus critical acclaim, for their original, funky and outrageous sound and live show.
After teaming up in 2002 - the result of a bitter freestyle session sparked by an inability to get laid. " SM began tearing up live shows across Canada and recording in Vancouver and after only a year and some change, found success with their debut full-length album Scratch ‘N Sniff - released on esteemed Canadian Indie label Teenage USA in November of ’03. Media hailed the album as "an instant classic [and] a groundbreaking genre-fuck" (The Hour, Montreal) and it charted at #3 on the Canadian National Earshot charts. They received equally stellar praise for their live show, "a lewd, raunchy and priceless combination of sleaze, humor and yes, talent" (Now Magazine, Toronto), earning the band opening slots on tour with Peaches and Nashville Pussy as well as the opportunity to gig extensively throughout North America and Europe at the hippest clubs from NYC to Berlin. Along the way they have shared the stage with a veritable who’s-who of underground electronic, rock & new-wave-rap artists including Vitalic, Nid & Sancy, the Gossip, Har-Mar Superstar, Para One, Uffie, The Infadels and t. Raumschmiere and have sold over 3500 copies of Scratch ‘N Sniff mainly “from the stage”. Whether dropping razor-sharp raps that employ “incredible wordplay of seriously brilliant construction and flow" (San Francisco Bay Times) or delivering over-the-top diva vocals and killer harmonies, Stink Mitt’s boundary-breaking and totally unique sound have made them a favorite of musicians like Peaches, Kate Pierson (B-52s), Larry Tee and Mark Moore (S-Express).
Now, the act referred to as "the greatest band ever" on Much Music (by Canada’s media god George Strombolopulos) have unleashed their sophomore recording The Red Album (release date: 11/28/06) on San Francisco’s fast-rising Indie label Cochon Records (Outisde/Redeye). According to Toronto’s Now Magazine, the new record will give fans what they want - even while the band pushes their sound into new territory: “advanced listening reveals an older, more musically innovative Stink Mitt " but rest assured, the raunch and wit remain.”
StinkMitt have picked the perfect time to release The Red Album, having spent most of 2006 touring N. America and the EU, including summer dates supporting Peaches and The Eagles of Death Metal in Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary & Edmonton. Onstage, Stink Mitt wowed the crowds of 1000+, even joining Peaches during her encore for a live rendition of “Fan Etiquette”, the track they collaborated on and which is available on the Japanese bonus EP for Impeach My Bush. In September 2006 StinkMitt toured the eastern USA solo, playing at Duvet in NYC, DC9 in Washington DC, and Chicago’s Estrojam Festival. Proving that there is no rest for the wickedest band ever, in October 2006 StinkMitt were invited back to the EU " making it their third trip to France to tour in 2006 alone - to perform at the White Nights festival in Amiens, France. They also drew record crowds at Wonderland in Nantes, France, and opened for Peaches at her Paris concert, performing for 2000+ people. StinkMitt capped off their 2005-06 performance season with an invitation to play the sold-out Club Filth in Toronto alongside DJs Junior Sanchez, Joost Van Bellen in November 2006.
2007 will find StinkMitt hard at work marketing and promoting The Red Album and touring Canada, the USA & the EU, beginning with dates in Washington, Oregon, California, B.C. & Alberta from Jan 27-Feb 23. March will see them dominating CMW in Toronto & SXSW in Austin, with a return to the EU planned for fall 2007. With the release of The Red Album, StinkMitt are poised to go from being your neighbor’s dirty secret to an unabashed guilty pleasure for
