Jim Lauderdale helps welcome Jed Hilly to the AMA
Emmylou Harris, The Hacienda Brothers and Elizabeth Cook are the latest artists to confirm their performance at the 2007 Americana Honors and Awards Show November 1st at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Townes Van Zandt will be posthumously awarded the President’s Award that night.
Americana Music Association Executive Director Jed Hilly made those announcements during a special reception September 7th at the historic Mint in Los Angeles, presented by Cary Baker’s conqueroo, Shilah Morrow’s Sin City and featured a special guest performance by Yep Rock recording artist Jim Lauderdale. In his introductory remarks, Hilly commented to the crowded house on the importance of its LA Americana community and the role they have played in fostering awareness to the Americana genre. In recognition of this, Hilly announced this years Americana Music Festival and Conference closing party, Saturday November 3rd, will be hosted by the Sin City All Stars, in conjunction with Nashville based Thirty Tigers, who will combine the event with their annual Chicken and Waffles Party. "This is shaping up to be an amazing festival and conference,” said Hilly as he took the stage before Lauderdale’s performance. "Americana Music is everyone’s music and not limited by geographical or musical boundaries. The fact that I can stand here in Los Angeles and talk about an event in Nashville with artists from all over the United States and from at least four other countries (Australia, Canada, Sweden and the UK) participating proves this is a growing, relevant, and all inclusive genre.” ![]() ![]() |
