CMJ Reports: "Oxford Collapse Finish Sub Pop Debut"
Oxford Collapse Finish Sub Pop Debut
Jun 20, 2006 Story by: Crispin Campbell Oxford Collapse just finished mastering their third LP and Sub Pop debut, Remember The Night Parties, which is set for a October 10 release. The album, which was produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Jawbox, Mark Lanegan), will feature new cuts like "Lady Lawyers" and "Kenny Can't Afford It," among nine others. The Brooklyn trio, which released two previous full-lengths on Kanine Records in addition to a self-released EP and a smattering of 12-inch singles, has reportedly fleshed out the Ameri-indie aspects of their sound, leaning even further away from NYC post-punk angularity and more toward an anthemic sound reminiscent of the Feelies or the Embarrassment. Singer/guitarist Mike Pace tells CMJ that, "We just spent two whirlwind weeks in the studio with the mighty John Agnello. We went in with a bunch songs and now two weeks later it's mastered and in Sub Pop's hands. We feel we work better when the pressure's on, and can say we're really happy with how it's turned out." A tour will commence in the fall, though dates have yet to be confirmed. Tracklist For Remember The Night Parties: 01. He'll Paint While We Play 02. Please Visit Your National Parks 03.
