Out of a condemned warehouse space, in the industrial Old Town district of Portland, Oregon, through the mist of rain that enshrouds this beautiful, green city, most of the year, comes the music of Swords, which just seems to manage and capture it all. Six musicians who have found one another, tossed and tussled, fused ideas, tore them apart and put them back in entirely different ways, have started to fully realize their potential with a brand new record called “Metropolis.” The third release from Swords and the first to drop “Project” from it’s name, Metropolis is an appropriate title for a record that captures the modern day ennui, takes critical views on subjects from politics to the commercialization of art and loss of connection with your fellow man, all while never taking themselves too seriously, far from preaching and with a sense of consolidarity, not alienation, perhaps inherent in a group that has to piece together the varied creative abilities of six highly distinct individuals. The old adage of the whole being greater then the sum of parts, has never applied more to a band. With “Metropolis” what Swords has succeeded brilliantly in, is harnessing their power, that explosive creativity and giving it greater shape and structure than ever before. “Metropolis” brings forth a new chapter for Swords, with brilliant promise. These six musicians, who combine their various talents, are set to take to the road in the Fall. In the meantime, take a moment to sit back and explore “Metropolis.” The whole of Swords are set to speak with you all. Standard Jewel Case.
