American Princes review/CMJ preview on OH MY ROCKNESS.COM
American Princes
There once was a dude who left his incredibly cushy job at everyone's favorite online indie rock destination, Insound, to move with his band back to Little Rock, where the rents and beer are cheaper. Not too many bands make the reverse move, but it doesn't seem to have slowed American Princes' momentum. They've recently released an incredibly catchy record and are back in town to show their old crew that they you can be a successful indie band and not live off the L train. Their sound is kind of like Jawbreaker meets Pavement meets The French Kicks meets Arkansas. Three different members share vocal duties, and strangely, all three can actually sing. The drummer never lets the math-rock elements of the songs sound sloppy and always keeps the tempo changes in check. American Princes are a solid rock band and will be making some noise. Who knows, maybe they'll conquer the world and that dude can buy Insound in a few years. SHOWLIST Wed 9/14 7:00 PM The Comas, The Kingsbury Manx, Robert Skoro, American Princes, Cities @ Scenic(CMJ) |
