I just got a review copy of a new CD by Greg Summerlin, a great Southern singer-songwriter who I think you would like. For starters, he rocks. This is not folky stuff at all. The CD is called "The Young Meteors." It doesn't come out until June 14 and it is his second album. It's basic guitars-bass-drums pop/rock with a nice Brit-pop twist — an interesting blend of the Replacements, New Order (really!) and a little pop-punk a la Weezer. Somehow it works very well. There is one song on here that sounds more New Order than New Order's latest CD! Great stuff. This is indie-pop rock at its best (he is releasing it on his own label). I can tell this is going to be one that I listen to a lot this summer.
